Do I have your undivided attention now? Good. On Saturday, August 31st, from 7pm-Midnight, there will be a new art exhibit at Royal Flesh Tattoo Gallery in Chicago featuring Chicago artists. What's the theme of the show? Well, it's skulls and I'll have new, never seen before works in it. This is going to be exciting, don't you agree?
Oh, the exciting sights to be seen at this Opening Reception. Come out and get the chance to meet the artists, myself included, while taking in the beautiful works.
Will I see you there?

Indulge In Life
I've recently started sketching candid moments of people in my spare time. It's something that I used to do and am happy that I've returned to it. I try to keep the sketching time to under 20 minutes so I can remain somewhat incognito while doing it. I don't concentrate on the details so much but the figure overall in an effort to capture the moment.
It's the person in the moment that really piques my interest and poses a challenge. Plus, it helps me be a better artist by drawing from life.
I've titled the drawing accompanying this, "Curvy Platinum Blonde Perusing A Tattoo Magazine".
What things do you do to better yourself?

Best New Visual Artist Of Chicago? Gee, Thanks!
Dear Fans,
I want to thank you personally for voting and naming me the Best New Visual Artist of Chicago of 2012 in the prestigious Chicago Reader. It's truly an honor to be named the best of a city in a popular newspaper with a circulation close to 100,000 (not including website visits).
It's hard enough being an artist, let alone an artist whose main focus are the horror and fantasy genres. To be chosen while dealing with that subject matter is just astounding. I'm not one of those types who subscribe to the "splash and splatter" philosophy so prevalent in the modern art movement, and in doing so, I'm sure that I have quite a few nay-sayers and ill-will wishers. That's fine. My work isn't for everyone. It's for me. and most definitely, it's for YOU.
I never thought I'd be chosen for such an outstanding title and I owe it all to YOU, my amazing fans, friends, and collectors! Thank you so very much. I'm humbled and inspired.
Just wait to see what I've got in store for you in the future months!
Warmest Wishes And Regards,
G. Edwin Taylor
P.S. I want to extend a personal thank you and congratulations to Gallery Provocateur who gave me the chance and believed in me. The gallery also was named Best Established Gallery, Best Underground Art Space and it's Halloween show (of which I had seven works in) was named Best Exhibit!
P.P.S. I also wish to extend my congratulations to the Runners Up Meaghan Garvey and Amanti House!

What Are You Waiting For?
I have a tendency to study. To read and take copious amounts of notes and then re-read everything all over again. I want to make sure that I leave no stone unturned. What do I personally study? Art technique, marketing, and anything and everything else that piques me interest.
BUT...
...You can only study for so long before you need to take what you've learned and dive head first into the depths and trust that you won't sink. No matter how hard you've studied you'll come across something that you weren't prepared for. You know what? That's ok. It's how we truly learn.
Thinking will only get you so far. The call to Action is what will take you the rest of the way. So now I leave you with this one single and solitary thought:
